Ragi Rotti (Karnataka‑Style Flatbread)

Prep: 12 min | Cook: 12–15 min | Makes: 6–7 rottis

  • Ragi flour – 2 cups (240 g)
  • Hot water – ~1 to 1¼ cups (240–300 ml)
  • Finely chopped onion – ½ cup
  • Grated carrot – ¼ cup (optional)
  • Green chilli – 1, finely chopped
  • Cumin – ½ tsp; Salt – 1 tsp
  • Oil/ghee for cooking
  1. Mix ragi, salt, onion, carrot, chilli, cumin.
  2. Add hot water gradually; knead to a soft dough. Rest 5 min.
  3. Grease sheet/tawa; pat a thin disc with wet fingers.
  4. Cook on medium with a few drops of oil till brown spots; flip and cook done.
